Pulp Therapies

Orthodontist & Pediatric Dentist in Pennington, NJ

A pulpotomy is a procedure for restoring infected baby teeth in children. The most common cause of baby tooth infection is untreated tooth decay (cavities). This occurs when the cavity destroys the tooth's outer layer and attacks the soft pulp inside your child's tooth. Once the pulpotomy is performed, a crown is placed over the remaining pulp. The goal of a pulpotomy is to keep the remaining pulp healthy and prevent the spread of infection to other teeth.
