Silver Diamine Fluoride

Silver diamine fluoride is used in cases when a pediatric patient is uncooperative when dealing with a cavity and trying to obtain the radiograph. This is an alternative treatment for dental fillings for cavities in baby teeth. Silver diamine fluoride is noninvasive; it's very comfortable and is suitable for wiggly children. When silver diamine fluoride is applied, it will stain the infected area black, and prevents the decay from growing larger until the tooth falls out naturally, or until the patient is cooperative enough for actual fillings. Silver diamine fluoride is an FDA approved treatment.
